5 Ways to Stay Motivated to Exercise Regularly

Motivation is the difference between people that workout regularly and those who don't. In order to gain motivation, you need to have the right mindset. If you have a fixed mindset, you believe your characteristics, abilities, and talents are unchangeable. On the other hand, if you have a growth mindset, you understand that you are capable of change. The growth mindset is what fuels motivation. In addition, to the growth mindset, you need to figure out your why?. This is your intrinsic motivation. Your list of reasons that resonate with you of why you want to exercise. "It's something I should do" or "My spouse is pressuring me" isn't a reason that will inspire you. It's important to find your reasons from within. Now that you have the right mindset, here are five tips to keep you motivated.

  2. Find an accountability partner. Exercise with a friend, spouse, or personal trainer that won't let you off the hook.

  3. Visualize your success. Make it a daily discipline to spend time imagining yourself experiencing your desired outcome.

  4. Reward yourself. Make it fun and let others know about your reward. Put money aside to gift yourself once you've met your goal.

  5. Set out reminders for your workout. Whether that is setting out your gym clothes the night before, or setting an alarm on your phone, These gentle reminders will help you stay on track.
