This March marks 2 years at Beyond Barriers and I can’t believe how much has happened in what seems like such a short period of time. When I started with Tricia in 2016 I had two kids, separated ab muscles and was exhausted! I started with some individual sessions and then with some encouragement joined the group classes. The group classes were perfect they brought variety, friendship and always scaled up or down in difficulty depending on my fitness level. By the first summer I was in the best shape I had ever been in ran my fastest mile, lifted the most weights, fixed my ab separation, had more energy and felt fantastic.
The fall of 2017 I found out I was pregnant and was committed to a healthy pregnancy and staying active at BB. Tricia and Amy worked with me every class through the morning sickness, growing belly and necessary modifications I was able to work out through the majority of my pregnancy. Having stayed active during my pregnancy meant a fast delivery and a
relatively fast rebound. While I counted down my weeks until I could go back I received calls, texts, flowers and warm meals from the BB folks making me realize that it is way more than just a gym to me.
I was back to the gym at 6 weeks postpartum and although those first few classes were really hard it was fun to be back. I have been back a little over 5 months and am modifying less, lifting the same weights I was before pregnancy and feeling great despite my very sleep deprived state. And my abs healed this time in just over 6 weeks! I am ready to start thinking about my next fitness goals and know that BB is part of them. I have loved that group classes, community support and
individual encouragement that has been able to support me through so many different stages of fitness over the last 2 years.
Leah, you are inspiring to the entire Beyond
Barriers community. We look forward to sharing
in your journey and watching you reach your
goals. Keep up the great work!!
