When I first met Tricia at the age of 52, I weighed over 200 lbs. and struggled with medical problems, such as knee pain (two surgeries for torn meniscus), hypothyroidism, high blood pressure, migraines, digestive issues, and sleep apnea. Needless to say, I was prescribed a host of medications to treat and/or prevent symptoms. My eating habits were atrocious. I skipped breakfast and lunch each day, and often ate fast foods for dinner in the evenings.
Many days I was so tired and sluggish that I could hardly stay awake, which is very concerning since I commute two hours to/from work. My initial goal with Tricia was to lose 50 lbs., but I feel that I have accomplished so much more. Tricia patiently guided me through rehab and strengthening my knee. She helped me realize the importance of eating healthy and more often and hydrating! I have learned that regular exercise and proper nutrition improves energy, sleep, and emotional wellbeing, increases strength and stamina, and promotes weight loss. Every morning I eat breakfast – usually scrambled eggs and bacon – before heading to work, and I’ve added fruits to my daily diet. I truly believe that working out helped me through periods of loss and grief over recent years. I was able to discontinue almost all of the prescriptions, and slowly but surely lost a total of 75 lbs. Also, exercise, proper nutrition and Tricia’s expertise help me cope with the challenges of
At Tricia’s recommendation, I supplemented my workouts with her with group exercise classes. Twice each week I attend classes at my church, which include Zumba, aerobics, and walking. Classmates have become great friends and a terrific source of accountability – for each of us. Unexpectedly, I managed to inspire my twin sister to begin exercising and change her eating habits. My sister works out regularly and the difference in her strength and stamina is incredible. Tricia has been my trainer for eight years now. I will be 60 years old on November 12. Honestly, I never could have imagined that I would be so active and fit at this stage in my life.
I know you’ve heard it a million times, but I’ll say it again, “you’re never too old to start exercising!” And it’s never too late to choose a healthy lifestyle!
